weekend review

This weekend Mr.C & I…

went camping “up north” with our couple friends, N+B, at Savanna Portage State Park!

We arrived Saturday around noon, set up camp, and ate lunch.

Then we wandered the trails, canoed on Lake Shumway, and cat-napped on the dock.

Once back at camp, we made dinner + s’mores before playing cards by the light of our MacGyver’d lamp.

An unexpected early morning rain shower woke us up Sunday but thankfully it cleared up by breakfast.

After a plateful of B’s “blueberry muffin fluff”, we packed up and then set out to visit two other areas in the park – Loon Lake and Wolf Lake.

Although it was a short trip – we had a great time and lucked out with such beautiful weather!

Plus, it’d been years since either of us had camped so it was nice to get out of the city, unplug, and spend some quality time together and with our friends.

And, as a bonus, we were able to cross it off our life list.

If you haven’t been up to Savanna Portage State Park I definitely recommend it. There’s nothing like cuddling up with your honey next to the fire, racing across the lake with your pals, or squealing like a little girl as a massive daddy-longlegs sets its sights on you in the bathroom.

Oh, the joys of camping…. ha!

Hope you all had a great weekend too!

  1. Love that it was called Savanna, just can’t get away, can ya? Could you hear frog song from the tent? Cabins sound good to me, ha.

    • haha apparently not. mmm, no frogs that I could hear – I bet if we’d been closer to the lake. and I think Ryan would agree with you on the cabins, sleeping on cold bumpy ground just isn’t as fun as it was when you were kid. not to mention getting eaten alive by mosquitos – not a fan. lol.

    • it was fun!

muffin fluff: you basically take muffin mix and instead of baking it in cups/tin you pour it into a griddle or skillet pan and cook it up kind of like you would scrambled eggs. lol a little odd, but tastes decent and is easy to do when camping.

      thanks for stoppin’ by :)
