This weekend Mr.C & I…

chicago1

were on vacation in Chicago!

We left last Wednesday and returned yesterday. It was a whirlwind visit but we had a blast! We made the trip down to the Windy City to celebrate our friends K+J getting married and to visit with family as well.

On Wednesday night, after the long drive down to IL, we went out to dinner at Aurelio’s with my Bro, Dad, + his family.

Thursday morning we met up with friends & cheered as K+J tied the knot!

They were absolutely beautiful brides and I was blown away by their creative, thoughtful, and sweet vows.

After the ceremony a group of us popped downtown to eat lunch at Ed Debevics before heading back for K+J’s rockin’ reception held at the ARTango Center.

On Friday,  Mr.C & I spent time with family, recouped from the wedding celebrations, saw “Pacific Rim”, had a delicious dinner at Lorenzetti’s, and took Lulu, my great aunt’s dog, out for a walk.

Saturday morning we rode the Metra downtown to meet up with our friends for lunch at my favorite restaurant, the Greek Islands.

Then we wandered around the city for some sweaty sightseeing.

We checked out the Sears Tower (now called Willis Tower), Buckingham Fountain, a trail along the Lakeshore, & Navy Pier.

Afterwards we headed back to the hotel to cool off, relax, play card games, and hangout well into the night.

Sunday morning we bid farewell to friends, family, and the Chicago skyline before making the trek back to ‘ol MN.

Mr.C & I stopped for a late lunch at The Cheese Factory Restaurant near the Wisconsin Dells while waiting out the storm.

This quaint little eatery has vegetarian/vegan dishes, amazing homemade desserts, an espresso bar, and old-fashioned ice-cream soda fountain.

Mr.C had the Three Cheese pizza with a strawberry malt while I had Beer Cheese soup. For dessert we split a piece of “Princess Cake” – vanilla cake between layers of lemon butter-cream frosting and raspberry filling, surrounded by toasted, slivered almonds. I definitely recommend visiting this place if you’re in the area or driving through (it’s just a mile off 90!).

To say we had fun over the last 5 days would be an understatement. It was so great to see everyone!

This was a much-needed vacation for the two of us and we definitely soaked up every minute.

Can’t wait ’til our next adventure!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend too!
