weekend review

This weekend Mr.C & I…

had a visit from my mom+gma!

Thursday

They arrived, I made this for dinner, Mr.C got off work early, and we ended the night with a few games of Euchre, 31/Blitz, and Rummikub.

I had the day off so us girls went thrifting. We went to 5 stores before grabbing takeout from a bunch of restaurants for a fun “city food” feast at home.

Mexican appetizers from El Loro, Quiche from Patrick’s Bakery & Cafe, Curry, Pad Thai, and Spring Rolls from Sawatdee, and Pie for dessert from Baker’s Square.

Saturday

We repeated events from this time last year by taking mom+gma to the Stone Arch Bridge Festival and then out to ice cream at Izzy’s.

At the festival we had cheese curds, checked out the neat art, and got drenched during an afternoon thunderstorm. As we dried off at Izzy’s we taste-tested a few of their many homemade flavors – chocolate dulce de leche, green apple, cake batter, peppermint bon bon, salted caramel, etc. Truly scrumptious!

For dinner we grabbed patties at Smashburger and played more cards – what can I say, we’re addicts.

Sunday

After saying goodbye to mom+gma, Mr.C & I went to see “Now You See Me” (great movie!), relaxed  and enjoyed the beautiful weather with a massive bowl of watermelon, and started Season 4 of Dexter.

Had to get a few episodes in before the busy work week and next weekend when we’ll be driving back to IL to celebrate the nuptials of our pals Kt&J.

Can’t wait!

Hope you all had as nice a weekend as we did – and Happy Father’s Day too!

    • my mom’s idea for the feast – coming from a small town she wants to eat all her city favorites when she comes to visit!

what’s your favorite card game to play? we’re in need of some new ones.

  1. I haven’t heard of “Now You See Me,” but you’re the second person today I’ve seen who said they saw it over the weekend, so I’m gonna have to check it out!

Looks like a fun-filled weekend with fam! Glad you got some grandma time.

    • grandma/mama time is the best :)

“Now You See Me” was very good – I’d almost forgotten it was being released this month until Mr.C reminded me – but you can never go wrong with a great drama, suspense, and magicians+bank robbers.
