weekend review

This weekend Mr.C & I…

chippies 'n dip may be gone, but the game was in full swing!

the chippies ‘n dip may have been gone, but the game was in full swing!

stayed up late on Saturday night snacking and playing Munchkin Zombies game with N + B,

cleaned the house and rearranged the living room (full apartment tour post coming soon!!)

went grocery shopping,

watched the Bears game,

well… Mr.C watched the game – I curled up in bed with “Liz & Dick”  a Lifetime movie based on the love affair between Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton (starring Lindsay Lohan),

put up our holiday lights,

made chocolate pudding,

set up an “envelope system” for our monthly budget (part of our financial fitness plan from Coach Dave – full post on all that coming soon!! …hopefully this week…),

and went to Savers + Goodwill where I scored some nice bargain duds!

pictured: pink jeweled top by Apt 9 for $5 (orig. $36 at Kohl’s), shimmery cardigan by Guinevere for $5 (orig. $70 at Anthropologie), gray top by Ann Taylor Loft for $5 (orig. $40 at Loft)

I don’t normally try to find out how much my thrifty finds cost originally,

especially since I only care about what looks good + makes me happy, not name brands,

but my friend, and Refashion Queen, Zhenya from Being Zhenya is usually curious so I thought I’d share!

brown oxfords with silky laces by Steve Madden for $5 (orig. $50)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

  1. Brava, and I went shopping in our small town and scored a linen Swedish table cloth to add to the straw ornaments and Dalarna horses for holiday decorating.

  2. Yay envelope systems!! Good luck with yours :) I can’t wait to hear about how you do yours!

Awesome thrifty finds. It is kind of cool to know how much your item would have cost. Then you can laugh at people that actually spend that much on the same clothes. Kidding! ;)

    • haha that is some truth to that last line though :)

the envelope system is going to be a bit of a challenge for us, really used to debit/credit swipes – but i think it really will help us spend less! hoping to post about our financial journey sometime this week.

  3. You really scored some GREAT deals, sounds like! Good for you for being thrifty! :) I’m looking forward to both of the posts you mention coming up this week. We are trying to do an envelope system…I’m thinking it takes a while to make the transition? And I still haven’t done an apartment tour, so I’m looking forward to yours!

    • Thanks! :) Going thrifting again next weekend so hopefully will find some neat things then too.

I think it does take awhile to transition anything when it comes to money/financials. Because it is deeply rooted in habit/emotions too – even if it doesn’t seem like it. Hoping by sharing our journey with all this it’ll help someone else!
